Hi everyone! I happened to watch a movie about earthships and I would like to share it with you. It's a house in which everything is available (electricity, water, food, ...) without external input. Communities are formed of houses like this. The houses don't cost much to build since they are made of tires, cans, ciment, rocks, plants, etc. Go see for yourself on youtube by typing "earthship" or "Micheal Reynolds" which is the architect building them.
One of the biggest concerns for the environment is non-recycled waste. Less than half of plastic water bottles are actually recycled which means our landfills are over populated with plastic waste. A solution to the problem for some, as I have found it was for me, is to invest in a home water filtration system. I don't have to worry about recycling water bottles anymore which gives me relief and the water is actually better for you. If I may make a suggestion for those who are not interested in such an idea? Invest in a smaller buy...like a Brita water filtration kit. This is a cheaper alternative for those who would like the convenience of filtering their own tap water.
Filterforgood.com Take the Brita pledge to reduce bottled water waste. Also directs you to where you can find Brita water filter products.
I'm new to this, and think I replied in the wrong place before, so I'm going to try to repost:
Plastic bottle waste is a HUGE problem, one that can be solved at home with Brita filters, but that lacks a good solution outside of the home. Devin Griffin, an MBA student at Wharton, is currently working on solving this problem. He's starting a company called Seven Rivers that will offer filtered water vending machines in public places so that those of us who carry reusable bottles don't have to fill up at less-than-desirable water fountains. Seven Rivers water will be cheaper and more eco-friendly than bottled water, and cleaner than public water fountains.
Devin has entered Seven Rivers in an online competition to win $10,000 to launch his idea. If you believe in his vision, please vote! Here's the link:
at TOKYO BIG SIGHT (Tokyo International Exhibition Center) in Tokyo. Its aim is to accelerate the expansion of green markets by exhibiting environmentally friendly products and services.
