Just outside of BOSTON, MA

The LINCOLN (MA) LAND CONSERVATION TRUST (LLCT) is a private, non-profit organization (located approx. 16 miles west of Boston) helping to administer approximately 2,000 acres of protected open space, including management of almost 80 miles of trails. While hours are flexible, the positions require 30-40 hours per week and a vehicle. Each position provides ample opportunity for continuing field studies.

Stewardship Intern. The LLCT has established a stewardship program which includes compiling baseline and management plan documentation for each of approximately 150 parcels of LLCT owned, own-owned and conservation restriction land, and to monitor each conservation property to ensure its appropriate stewardship. Working with local conservation staff, one or more interns will survey flora and fauna, creating reports which include maps, available geophysical data, and documentary information such as photos and legal documents. An ability to identify species common in the areas’ forest, field, and wetlands ecosystem is essential. Some experience with global positioning equipment, geographic information systems, and MS Office useful. We anticipate that each intern will have a B.A./B.S. in natural sciences, ecology, biology, or related experience. Anticipated compensation is $14.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending upon experience and skills.

Land Management Intern. The land management interns carry the primary responsibility for maintaining the trails and land management activities on approximately 50 parcels of conservation land in Lincoln. Anticipated compensation is $11.00 – 12.50 per hour, depending upon experience and skills. Formal training is less important than initiative, organization, and enthusiasm for independent outdoor work.

Serious inquiries should be addressed to LLCT President Buzz Constable at Box 6022, Lincoln Center, Massachusetts 01773, by fax to (781) 259-3510 or by e-mail at llct@lincolnconservation.org.
