I am a happy-go-lucky, eco rep for Lacocotera Resort, an all-inclusive eco resort in La Barra de Santiago, El Salvador. As a green hotel, we want to spread information about El Salvador and promote environmentally friendly travel. El Salvador is home to many endangered and exotic vegetation and bird species and we are working to help conserve the land while educating visitors.
La Cocotera was built following the “green leaf” system utilized by the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST). The hotel features:
* Solar energy
* Energy saving light bulbs/ kinesthetic power flashlights
* Biological (not chemical) waste water recycling treatment plant
* Environmentally safe products, shampoos and soaps
* All cleaning products are environmentally safe
* Recycling of plastics, paper and glass
* Ionization pool filtration
